Chilly blast hits northern Taiwan (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Northern Taiwan has taken a chilly turn on Monday (March 18) due to the approach of a cold front. As the front crosses Tuesday, temperatures are expected to plunge, getting especially cooler at night.
Daniel Wu, an adjunct associate professor of Atmospheric Sciences at National Central University, stated that Wednesday and Thursday would mark the arrival of a cold air mass, however, weather conditions are expected to improve with chances of radiational cooling in the early morning.
Wu noted the slight front proximity today has increased cloud cover in the north and east portions, with chances of brief rain along the north coast and in the eastern half, producing a noticeable cool.
Meanwhile, the central and southern parts are mostly cloudy with occasional sunshine, mildly hot during the day, and slightly cool at night.
From Friday to Sunday, under the influence of the returning high pressure, Taiwan will witness mostly cloudy to clear weather, with temperatures gradually warming up each day. The eastern half may still experience brief showers intermittently.
