TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Google Taiwan's General Manager Tina Lin announced on Wednesday (March 13) that the giant tech company will focus on three areas to boost the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Taiwan: nurturing talents in various AI-related fields, strengthening the developer community, and utilizing AI to innovate across various industries.
Lin emphasized that Taiwan has become a major global hub for Google, far more significant than just another Asian market office.
She further revealed Google's plans to launch Gemini College in Taiwan, initially opening 1,000 spaces for elementary and middle school teachers.
Google also plans to collaborate with outside partners to provide an AI literacy program on YouTube, Lin shared.
Moreover, to strengthen the developer community, Google will offer tools for creating generative AI products, which include Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, and the open model, Gemma.
In addition, a two-week Google Cloud Training program will be held in 2024, aiming to invite over 5,000 developers to participate.
