KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The South Korean Air Force Black Eagles Aerobatic Team thrilled aviation enthusiasts during a morning stopover at Kaohsiung International Airport on Thursday (March 7).

The team, composed of nine T-50 Golden Eagle trainer planes, was preparing to return home after completing a show at the Singapore Airshow. The much-anticipated arrival of the Black Eagles lured a bevy of military aircraft fans who stood vigil outside the airport armed with professional cameras to capture the moment.

The Black Eagles Aerobatic Team, a part of the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF), was established in 1967. Over the years, the team has undergone several disbandments and reestablishments, with the specifically designed T-50B making its public debut in 2011.

One spectator, who had traveled to Singapore specifically for the performance, praised the skill of the South Korean team but mentioned that the Republic of China Air Force's Thunder Tiger Aerobatics Team, Taiwan's own, also meets world-class standards.

In addition to performing, the Black Eagles also promote military aircraft by Korea Aerospace Industries, such as the FA-50 aircraft, a modification of the T-50. It has found buyers in Iraq, the Philippines, Thailand, and Poland. The U.S. Air Force and Navy could be potential customers.

Taiwan's military enthusiasts expressed the hope of seeing the Black Eagles in action in Taiwan someday, as it would allow local audiences to appreciate their impressive flying skills and promote Taiwan's aviation technology.

Sporting black, yellow, and white paintwork, the Black Eagles are regular visitors to Kaohsiung for refueling and repairs, becoming a focal point for military fans, particularly while traveling to Southeast Asian regions for shows.
