TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Minister of Digital Affairs, Audrey Tang, said Thursday (March 7) that she has not yet received the final decision concerning her future position from the leadership.

Tang's comments emerged when there is high intrigue about the new cabinet of the president-elect, Lai Ching-te, who will take office on May 20.

Tang made her comment before reporting to the Legislative Yuan, which was interpreted by the public as a 'final exam.' However, Tang sees it as a 'beginning'. She pointed out that there has been significant recognition of the role of the Ministry of Digital Affairs in preventing digital fraud.

The minister highlighted that E-commerce under the responsibility of the Ministry of Digital Affairs has not shown up on the 165 Anti-fraud Network for five consecutive months. Yet, she acknowledged the public's increased expectations for the ministry.

As the transition towards the new government nears, Tang emphasized that the current cabinet is in a caretaker phase; hence, the higher authorities will naturally decide the tenure of officials. She has not received any official decision on her continuity in the role.
