TAIPEI (TVBS News) —Minister of Labor Hsu Ming-chun confirmed on Wednesday (March. 6) that the ministry has completed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) exchange process after receiving notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Feb. 26.

The initiative will initially introduce migrant workers to industries experiencing labor shortages, including construction, agriculture, manufacturing, and caregiving, Hsu revealed.

However, Hsu stated that the timeline and the number of workers have not been determined and that the program would start on a small scale.

Hsu also confirmed that the MOU exchange with India has been completed and will be sent to the Executive Yuan for review within 30 days, and then to the legislature for examination.

All relevant details, including meeting dates, will be discussed after the legislature has completed the review.

Expressing respect for India's diverse culture, Hsu further shared that discussions would be held with India on various topics, including the place of origin, numbers, industries, language requirements, and skills.

As long as the needs of the Taiwanese side are met, all Indian workers are welcome, she added.
