Over 3M attendees light up New Taipei lantern festival (TVBS News)
NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The 2024 New Taipei Lantern Festival concluded on March 3, breaking records with over three million attendees — the highest participation in the event's history.
The festival, which began on Feb. 16, was held at the New Taipei Metropolitan Park and featured nine main lantern areas with a lantern show held every half hour for visitors to appreciate.
A significant event highlight was a traditional 'golden lantern,' specially provided by Kotonocho, Kagawa Prefecture in Japan — which shares a sister-city relationship with Ruifang District in New Taipei.
The golden lantern was hung at the entrance to the festival, attracting numerous citizens for photographs.
As the festival concluded, all 65 sets of lantern decorations were relocated to local offices in various districts for further utilization, said the city government.
