Taiwan predicts normal Pacific temperatures post-spring (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) of Taiwan announced Friday (March 1), that the El Nino phenomenon is expected to continue decreasing, with tropical Pacific sea temperatures predicted to return to normal following the spring season.
The forecast for the upcoming quarter (March through May) indicates warmer-than-average temperatures across the island, with conditions primarily ranging from normal to slightly warm.
In terms of rainfall, the expectation is for quantities to be normal or slightly less than average due to Taiwan's transitional location between drier southern regions and wetter northern areas.
According to February climate statistics, mild conditions were recorded across Taiwan, with Alishan experiencing the second-highest temperatures for the period.
Rainfall across the region was generally average to slightly low, with Anbu in Yangmin Mountain and Bamboo Lake recording the second-lowest quantities, and Yushan experiencing the third lowest.
On Feb. 4, the first spring thunder of the year was observed at the Matsu weather station, and snowfall was recorded on Yushan on Feb. 8.
As spring weather can change rapidly, the CWA reminds the public to stay updated with daily weather forecasts.
