Taiwan braces for sudden drop as cold front approaches (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA) stated on Thursday (Feb. 29) that temperatures are set to plummet in northern Taiwan starting tomorrow due to the arrival of a strong continental cold front from China.

Temperatures could reach 30 degrees Celsius today, and will likely drop between 10 to 13 degrees until Saturday, the CWA predicted.

While conditions were cloudy to clear across most areas during the first half of today, localized brief showers are due to occur in northern regions as the front passes in the latter part of the day, the CWA also reported.

Rainfall is also set to intensify in the eastern half of the island, where coastal areas may experience heavier downpours, the weather administration noted.

As for today's temperatures, northern Taiwan will experience daylight temperatures of 21 to 23 degrees Celsius, central and eastern areas will see 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, while southern regions will witness warmer weather up to 30 or 31 degrees Celsius.

Rainfall is predicted to increase across Taiwan from Friday to Saturday, with intermittent rainfalls expected throughout the day. Areas in the north and northeast will particularly experience longer periods of rain, the CWA urged.
