TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Huang Kuo-chang, a legislator from the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), disclosed on Monday (Feb. 26) in an exclusive radio interview that he would vote for his fellow party member Huang Shan-shan for Taipei mayor.

In an appearance on "POP News," Huang Kuo-chang stated that the New Taipei City mayorship could be a viable option for him. He, however, mentioned that there were expectations within the party for him to vie for the mayoral roles in Taoyuan or Hsinchu. As for the most suitable final decision and strategy, he affirmed that he would respect the decisions of TPP Chairman Ko Wen-je and the party central committee.

Ko has urged the party's eight at-large legislators to claim "responsible districts" and intends to plan for the 2026 local elections.

Host Huang Wei-han, during an ad break, alluded to Huang Kuo-chang's office located in Banqiao, questioning whether this indicates his intention to run for New Taipei City mayorship.

Huang Kuo-chang later added that each party-list legislator has a "responsible district," his being New Taipei, hence the logical choice of Banqiao for his office. He didn’t assert New Taipei City as his top choice but confirmed it is one of the options.
