Phoebe Huang‘s ex Christopher Downs denies abuse (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Canadian actor Christopher Downs emphasized on Wednesday (Feb. 21) that he has never abused his ex-wife, fellow actress Phoebe Huang, and insisted that there is no evidence of domestic violence in either Canada or Taiwan.
Downs instead blamed Huang for concocting the accusations during a press briefing, following a report in a weekly magazine earlier today that Tung, a Canadian neighbor, claimed to have overheard him making death threats against Huang.
The couple divorced in July 2022 after 16 years of marriage and have been embroiled in a public legal dispute.
In response to the leak, Downs, accompanied by his attorney, appeared at the Taiwan High Court on Wednesday afternoon. An emotionally charged Downs took to his defense, at points breaking down in tears.
He claimed to hold audio evidence and conversations with his neighbors that paint a different picture than what was reported.
During the interview, he became overwhelmingly emotional, at one point turning away to wipe his tears before abruptly leaving the scene.
