TAINAN (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Chimei Museum is set to host an international exhibition "Masterpieces from the National Gallery in London" from May 2 to Sept. 1, 2024, which is the first for the British institution in its 200-year history.
The exhibition, which features original works by 52 masters including Raphael, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh, will be based on a timed-entry system and visitors must reserve their slot in advance.
The museum highlighted that the UK's National Gallery is one of the greatest art museums in the world, housing more than 2,300 important artworks from the 13th to the 20th centuries.
Included in the exhibition are 52 pieces signifying the history of Western art by masters such as Botticelli, Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, Goya, Turner, Cézanne, Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, and Van Gogh.
The exhibition has stirred massive sensations in previous showings in cities like Shanghai, Seoul, and Hong Kong. Following numerous negotiations, the Chimei Museum has ultimately succeeded in bringing the exhibition to Taiwan.
Touting its achievement, the museum stated it remained the only partnering institution in Taiwan designated by the National Gallery.
Regarded as the final stop in its international tour, the masterpieces will swiftly return to London at the exhibition's conclusion to join the Gallery's bicentennial celebrations.
