HeySong Sarsaparilla price hike: First in over a decade (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's HeySong Corporation on Friday (Feb. 16) announced price adjustments for some of its items, which have remained unchanged for 10-20 years, slated to increase by 10-20% starting in March.
The most notable increase is in its popular 330-milliliter HeySong Sarsaparilla, with a surge of up to 25%. The company cited rising raw material, packaging, transportation, and personnel costs as the main causes—that continually increase production costs and operational expenses.
The future recommended retail price adjustments are mainly for packages less than one liter, some will be increased by NT$4, others by NT$5-6.
In TVBS News interviews, the public seemed to accept such price changes, stating they believe most products are currently going through price increases and it's tolerable as long as the surge isn't too high.
Other beverage brands such as Taisun Enterprise also recently signaled rising drink prices, chiefly due to the increase in international raw material costs, including sugar, oranges, and packaging.
The King Car Group had already adjusted the price for its Pocari Sweat in November last year. The 580-milliliter regular bottles went up from NT$25 to NT$29, marking the first price adjustment in 17 years.
