TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Body Shop Taiwan declared on Facebook Wednesday (Feb. 14) that it and its British subsidiary operate independently of each other.
The statement followed the renowned British skincare brand being placed under administration the same day. The Body Shop Taiwan quickly reaffirmed the announcement on Facebook, highlighting that the situation in the U.K. was part of a unilateral strategic adjustment and did not correlate to the operations in Taiwan.
TVBS News contacted The Body Shop Taiwan for clarification and was able to confirm that the strategic change in the U.K. is not anticipated to affect the operations of its more than 70 global branches. The Taiwan branch will continue with business as usual, with no detriment to consumers' rights or interests.
The news spurred anxiety among many consumers, but others were heartened by the affirmation that Taiwan's branch would not be affected.
