Dine on a new career: Din Tai Fung offers high-paying jobs

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The renowned restaurant Din Tai Fung, in partnership with the Taipei City Government, announced on Thursday (Feb. 15) a massive recruitment event to fill 150 vacancies with monthly salaries that could reach NT＄57,000. The job fair is scheduled for Feb. 24 at the Taipei Youth Salon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Open to aspirants without prior work experience in over 90% of its vacancies, this event is part of Din Tai Fung's initiative to maintain quality service by investing more in talent recruitment, salary welfare, and training.

The positions range across ten categories, including catering service specialists, cashiers, restaurant tidying staff, pastry apprentices, chefs, dish quality inspectors, dishwashers, and in-store timing staff. Part-time workers can earn up to NT＄240 an hour on weekends.

Salaries start at NT＄48,000 for waitstaff, with the potential to reach NT＄55,000 after passing assessments. Chefs could make up to NT＄57,000.

Kao Boa-hua, the Taipei Department of Labor Commissioner, said that jobs at the previous recruitment drives with Din Tai Fung have an average monthly salary of NT＄40,000. Following last year's pandemic-related labor shortages, many companies have increased salaries to attract workers.

The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics notes a rising salary trend in the catering industry. In 2023, Din Tai Fung increased salaries by 3% to 6%, marking a total increase of 16% over three years.

This recruitment drive is open to talents in Taipei, New Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.
