TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The National Museum of History (NMH) is set to reopen to the public on Feb. 21 after five years of renovations, offering expanded exhibition spaces increasing by about 262 pings (a traditional unit of area in Taiwan).

The museum also underwent an environmental overhaul, with enhanced nighttime lighting designed to craft a scenic nightscape within the Nanhai Academy.

In a press release issued Tuesday, the museum stated that post-renovation, the façade that integrates the Academy, including the NMH, the National Taiwan Arts Education Center's Nanhai Theater, and the corridor landscape between the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, are included.

Excluding administrative and collection spaces, the renovated NMH boasts an enlarged display space introducing a new family-oriented area for children, a national gallery for special exhibitions, and a panoramic dining restaurant, promising a more rich and diverse experience for visitors.

The museum hopes to create a continuous public space within the establishment, to enhance the recreational environment of Nanhai Cultural Park.

Through the comforting glow of its new evening lighting, the institution aims to boost the overall ambiance of the Nanhai Academy.
