TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taxi fares in Taipei, New Taipei, and Keelung City will see a rate adjustment for the Lunar New Year holiday starting Feb. 5 to Feb. 14, with an additional NT$$30 being charged per ride.
Notices about the fare changes will be posted clearly on stickers placed on the back of the co-driver's seats in taxis, helping passengers stay informed about the pricing structure.
Cab drivers are forbidden from arbitrarily refusing passengers or deliberately taking longer routes. Passengers are entitled to ask about the route being taken to ensure their rights are upheld.
On experiences of taxi drivers refusing fares, detours, or improper behavior, the Taipei City Government Police Department has a dedicated hotline at (02) 2311-6409, or residents can dial 110 to report any issues.
During these 10 days, other cities and counties will also adjust their taxi fare charges. In Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, Nantou, Changhua, and Kaohsiung, an extra NT$50 will be charged per ride.
In cities and counties like Hsinchu and Miaoli, fares will increase by 30% according to the original pricing scheme.
