Taiwan's defense boost: US advisers stationed for training (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — After the implementation of the U.S. "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023" (NDAA 2023), U.S. military advisers as of 2024 have begun long-term stations in Kinmen and Penghu of Taiwan's army amphibious camps, carrying out periodic training in the island's special warfare camps.

The island's Ministry of National Defense (MND) said last Sunday (Feb. 4), that the NDAA is there to assist Taiwan in developing comprehensive training and institutional abilities.

All foreign military exchanges are executed according to the annual plan, details of which will not be commented upon as per established rules, the MND stated.

Since 2023, U.S. military advisers have assisted Taiwan's special forces in learning how to use the "Black Hornet Nano" miniature drone and supported in writing guidelines and teaching materials.

Taiwan's Aviation and Special Forces Command has proposed plans to purchase these drones.

Aspects of the NDAA relating to Taiwan, such as information exchange and collaboration in military training, are all primarily based on the training of our ground forces. Currently, there are no plans heard of stationing civilian officials in Taiwan.
