Former speaker You Si-kun resigns, sparks political shuffle (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former Legislative Speaker You Si-kun resigned from his at-large legislator position on Thursday (Feb. 2) citing personal plans, a decision reported earlier to President-elect Lai Ching-te on Jan. 19.
Following You's unsuccessful re-election bid, former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Julian Kuo revealed that Lai had chosen two departing Taiwan People's Party (TPP) legislators for his cabinet, and arranged for You to assume another 'Speaker level' position.
The at-large legislator position vacated by You's resignation will be filled by the Chairman of the HOPE Foundation for Cancer Care, Dr. Wang Cheng-hsu. Meanwhile, DPP policy head Wang Yi-chuan could potentially step into the at-large legislator role if more vacancies arise.
DPP legislator Chuang Jui-hsiung, reportedly to be appointed as the Minister of Agriculture, revealed he has not received any appointment yet.
