Brief showers expected in northern Taiwan (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Weather experts cautioned on Thursday (Feb. 1) that a weak northeast monsoon will briefly affect Taiwan starting early Friday morning, bringing temporary showers to the northern and eastern parts.
Li Chih-sheng, a weather analyst from Weather Risk, mentioned that aside from increased coastal winds and slightly cooler temperatures in the central and southern regions, the effects are not significant.
The weekend weather will return to the recent warm and stable conditions, he noted.
Regarding the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday next week, Li stated that as the front approaches Sunday evening, it might bring scattered early showers in the north and center regions.
Monday daytime, as the front passes, there are opportunities for brief showers across Taiwan with a decrease in high temperatures, Li added.
Beginning Tuesday next week, the weather will transition to a northeast monsoon pattern. However, the incoming cold air is not strong, and will mainly affect daytime temperatures on the windward side.
Li also said that from Wednesday evening to New Year's Eve on Thursday next week, the South China rain area will move eastward, bringing widespread rain nationwide and significantly lowering temperatures.
