TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Famed Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung has announced a historic run of nine concerts at the Taipei Arena starting May 31, sparking excitement among fans.

Since 2023, Cheung has embarked on his "60+" world tour, with performances primarily staged across China and Hong Kong. But it was in 2018 when the Cantopop icon last performed in Taiwan, stirring up anticipation among local devotees for his return.

The ambitious nine-show stint in Taipei surpasses the artist's previous record of six shows at the same venue in 2018. According to the United Daily News, concert dates are scheduled for May 31, June 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16.

Despite being over 60, Cheung, who once accomplished a marathon of 24 consecutive shows in Hong Kong, believes that with adequate preparation, practice, and passion, a demanding performance schedule is manageable.

"There is no need for me to retire," Cheung emphasized, stating that singing and performing are what he enjoys and loves the most.

Cheung's illustrious career dates back to 1992 when he was dubbed one of Hong Kong's "Four Heavenly Kings" of Cantopop, alongside Andy Lau, Leon Lai, and Aaron Kwok. In 1994, Billboard named him as Asia's most popular singer, and by 1995, Cheung's album sales had outpaced Madonna and Bruce Springsteen, second only to Michael Jackson.
