Premier Chen visits Taipei markets ahead of Lunar New Year (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Chen Chien-jen and Acting Minister of Agriculture Chen Junne-jih inspected the trade of fruit, vegetables, and fisheries products at the Taipei Fish Wholesale Market and the First Fruit and Vegetable Wholesale Market in Taipei on Tuesday (Jan. 30).
Early morning, Chen visited the fish market under the Huazhong Bridge, greeting the workers and distributing red envelopes.
Wishing everyone a prosperous New Year and many good years to follow, he emphasized the most important role of the government during the Lunar New Year is to help locals enjoy the holiday celebrations.
A stall owner presented Chen with a fresh fish, symbolizing a good omen.
In response to the demand for fruit, vegetable, and fish products before the Lunar New Year, the Ministry of Agriculture stated that it is increasing the supply, with the vegetable supply expected to increase by over 38% daily, reaching an average of 2,000 tons per day.
Additionally, the daily fruit supply will rise by more than 73%, achieving an average of 800 tons per day, while the supply of fish products will increase by at least 30% daily, reaching an average of 390 tons daily.
