Taiwan Premier celebrates averted EVA Air strike (TVBS News)
TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Premier Chen Chien-jen expressed his relief and happiness Monday (Jan. 29) over the end of a planned strike by EVA Air pilots and wished everyone a happy New Year.
The pilots at EVA Air had planned to strike over the Lunar New Year period. However, the strike was averted after an agreement was reached between the pilots union and the company.
Chen, accompanied by Cabinet spokesperson Lin Tzu-lun, Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Chou Chih-haw, Taoyuan Deputy Mayor Wang Ming-jiuh and several legislators and councilors, visited a private AnKang education and nursing institution in Taoyuan City.
During his visit, Chen presented the institution with special meal funds and New Year grab bags ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays.
