DPP commits to youth engagement after elections setback (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Legislative Deputy Speaker Tsai Chi-chang revealed on Sunday (Jan. 28) that top Taiwanese leaders from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), are acknowledging the need for fresh approaches and new policies to resonate with the youth following a tough electoral run in Taichung City.
In the wake of the recent elections, Tsai voiced his concerns to DPP Chairman Lai Ching-te, pledging that more novel ideas and practices would be introduced over the next four years to garner youth support.
Responding to Tsai's stance, Lai outlined his intention to take a proactive approach to address youth issues. The DPP leader assured that his tenure would ensure an overall strategic plan to win back young supporters.
Tsai believes that Lai's impending policies will stir further optimism among the younger population.
Following his presidential election victory, Lai has been actively voicing for youth-focused causes and vowed at a gratitude meeting to offer his unwavering support to the young demographic.
DPP legislator Ho Hsin-Chun and Councilor Chiang Chao-kuo echoed these sentiments, and both urged the DPP to prioritize young people's ideas and adjust current regulations to fulfill their expectations.
DPP caucus whip in the Taichung City Council, Lee Tien-sheng, reflected Tsai's view on the electoral disconnect with the younger generation. He acknowledged the pressing need for the DPP to strive harder to gain youth support and recognition.
