EVA Air strikes deal with pilots ending strike threat (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A four-point agreement has been achieved between EVA Air and the Executive Yuan, following coordination on Sunday (Jan. 28).
The agreement includes monthly wage increases: NT$13,500 for pilots, NT$11,000 for senior co-pilots, and NT$10,000 for co-pilots, and a pledge not to strike until May 31, 2026.
EVA Air obtained the right to strike on Jan. 22, and on Jan. 25, they announced two strike warning periods, Feb. 7 to 18 and March 30 to April 7.
The union agreed from the effective date of the agreement until May 31, 2026, not to cause disputes over the aforementioned labor disagreements.
EVA Air agreed to not directly hire foreign pilots, excluding special operating requirements, and must undergo review by the Ministry of Labor (MOL) and Civil Aviation Administration (CAA).
The Taoyuan Union of Pilots (TUP) stated that the exercise of dispute rights is not the union's aim but a last resort under reluctant conditions.
The union hopes the company will build cooperation for equality in daily operations, a mechanism of mutual trust, and a corporate culture with the union.
