YILAN (TVBS News) — Despite the frigid -3°C temperatures early Wednesday morning, intrepid visitors to Taipingshan Mountain embraced the cold, reveling shirtless in the lingering snow.
As the clock ticked towards noon, the mercury climbed to 5-6°C, still maintaining a chilly atmosphere that didn't deter winter enthusiasts.
The popular mountain tram, recently restored after essential maintenance work, resumed operations, much to the delight of visitors. Despite limited visibility, they eagerly soaked in the picturesque landscapes of Taipingshan.
Although the morning witnessed no fresh snowfall due to inadequate humidity, traces of previous snowfalls gradually thawed, casting a romantic ambiance as the mist enveloped the treetops. The mist swirled as temperatures continued to ascend, enhancing the mountain's ethereal allure.
Renowned meteorologist Wu Sheng-yu expects that the cold spell will persist until Friday. In the northern region and Yilan-Hualien areas, temperatures may reach 15-18°C, while other areas could experience highs of 20-23°C.
While the snow may vanish from Taipingshan's vistas, the lingering chill will serve as a reminder of its once-magical winter wonderland.
