TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's 2024 general election is scheduled for Saturday, January 13. Here are a few reminders for those eligible to vote to get you ready.

On voting day, remember to bring your national ID card, personal chop, and voter notice, or else you cannot vote.

Your voting location can be found on the voter notice, which you should have received through the mail.

Voting times: Voting starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. at your designated voting location. You can find the location on the voting notice sent to you by mail.

Here are the steps to vote:

1. Bring your national ID card, personal chop, and voter notice to your voting location.
2. Show the three items to the polling staff to verify your identity.
3. Pick up the ballots.
4. Go to the voting booth and use the Central Election Commission's stamp to make your choice (it is forbidden to use your fingerprint or personal chop).
5. Cast your ballot in the ballot box.

One must also pay attention to forbidden actions when voting:

- Photos and videos are not allowed at the polling stations.
- Do not tear or carry out the ballot paper.
- Do not affix your personal chop or fingerprints on the ballot paper.
- Do not insert any foreign objects into the ballot box.
- Do not show the ballot paper

- Do not enter the polling station wearing any clothing or accessories related to the candidate.

Last friendly reminder: On voting day, both candidates and voters are not allowed to engage in electioneering or electioneering activities, including canvassing on social media, by messaging apps, e-mail, or even re-posting polls, all of which may violate the law and may even be subject to a fine of up to NT$5 million.
