Hou Yu-ih calls for democratic reforms, coalition gov‘t (TVBS News)
TAINAN (TVBS News) — Kuomintang's (KMT) presidential candidate, Hou Yu-ih, on Friday (Jan. 5), proposed to instigate a third wave of democratic reforms and form a coalition government.
He vowed to invite individuals outside of the KMT such as Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je and Foxconn founder Terry Gou, among others to participate.
Hou criticized his opponent, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential hopeful Lai Ching-te, for not disclosing information related to the Medigen Covid-19 vaccine and demanded Lai publicize the contract contents related to the vaccine as soon as possible.
Moreover, he accused the DPP for improper governance of its officials, referring to various issues such as the illegal construction of Lai's family home, and the corruption of high-ranking officials.
The campaign rally in Tainan on Friday attracted approximately 50,000 supporters with many KMT officials, including vice presidential candidate Jaw Shaw-kong, former president Ma Ying-jeou, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an, and KMT chairman Eric Chu in attendance.
