DPP’s Lai Ching-te stresses global impact of Taiwan vote (TVBS News)
CHANGHUA (TVBS News) — Lai Ching-te, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), emphasized on Friday (Jan. 5) the importance of each citizen's vote in determining the world's future.
He appealed for support for democracy and the future in an election rally held in Xihu, Changhua County.
At the rally, Lai stressed that Taiwan's presidential election is the most important worldwide and holds the key to Taiwan's national course and the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.
Lai likened leading a country to driving: It requires steady handling and a clear understanding of the surroundings.
Under President Tsai Ing-wen's guidance, Taiwan is already on the right path, he asserted.
Lai also asked voters to choose himself and his running mate, Hsiao Bi-khim, to further guide Taiwan steadily on a democratic path.
Former Premier Su Tseng-chang and four legislative candidates from the DPP in Changhua county also made presence at the rally, including Chen Hsiu-pao, Huang Shiou-fang, Wu Yin-ning and Chen Su-yue.
Each person's vote will define the direction of not only Taiwan but that of the world, they opined at the rally.
