KMT‘s Hou Yu-ih blasts DPP for autocracy and corruption (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang's (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih on Saturday (Dec. 30) criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for its alleged autocracy, incompetence, and widespread corruption.
He singled out DPP presidential candidate Lai Ching-te as a complicit beneficiary of the party's corrupt structure.
Hou proposed a "New Taiwan Political Reform Movement" aimed at governing with peace, dignity, fairness, integrity, and diligence.
He even suggested that Taiwan People's Party (TPP) candidate Ko Wen-je would play a key role in this movement, urging him not to shed tears but to face challenges bravely.
The KMT candidate attempted to stir public sympathy, highlighting the issues people have been facing these past eight years, such as fraud, corruption, desolation, panic from democratic regression, and cross-strait tensions.
He criticized Lai for distancing himself from issues regarding support of Taiwan's independence and condemned the DPP over allegations concerning sexual harassment, coruption, and the new movement faction.
Hou argues that the DPP's disarray has extensively corroded its trustworthiness among the Taiwanese.
His own governance aim, he outlined, will be a blend of capacity, courage, and fiscal propriety. He emphasized leading a clean governance team to serve the people, in stark contrast to DPP's alleged autocracy.
Hou asserted his capability and strength to form a coalition government, fulfilling the aspiration for an alternate ruling party.
