THSR expands payment options to include credit cards (Courtesy of THSR)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) announced on Tuesday (Dec. 26) that it will, from this day forth, accept credit card payments for on-board ticket upgrades, push-cart sales, and station bento counter services.
The THSR emphasized the more diversified payment methods now available to passengers, as items from the pushcart and high-speed rail bento boxes could be purchased with an Easycard or iPASS.
Since Easycard and iPASS are designed for small payments, they are suitable only for purchasing pushcart items. On-board ticket upgrades should be paid for with a credit card or cash.
In addition, the THSR announced the debut of a new hot beverage — "Taiwan Sugar Highland Small Farmer Coffee" — available on trains starting Jan. 1, 2024.
The coffee, which features beans from the Guatemala Antigua region, will be served from the first to the seventh day of each month, as illy coffee will be provided on other days.
The company also cautioned that unstable internet connections on board might cause credit card transactions to fail and asked passengers for understanding.
