TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of the Interior (MOI) announced on Tuesday (Dec. 26) that the public can check their voting rights information by using their ID card and birth date on the Department of Household Registration website through Thursday.
In addition to online inquiries, people can also visit their local township, city, or district offices to check the list of eligible voters. The Ministry stressed that anyone with inaccurate data can request a correction.
The MOI specified that to have voting rights, one must be at least 20 years old. For presidential elections, individuals must have continuously resided in the free area of the Republic of China for at least six months.
Meanwhile, for legislative elections, residency in the respective constituency for at least four months is required.
According to the regulations, townships, cities, and household registration offices in districts will use records from 20 days before election day to compile the voters' list, the MOI noted.
To aid individuals who do not live at their registered addresses or have not received a voting notification, the Department of Household Registration will enable online inquiries about polling station locations from Jan. 8 to 13, 2024.
