DPP‘s Hsiao: TSMC US factory due to client demand (TVBS News)
HSINCHU (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim visited Hsinchu on Monday (Dec. 25), stressing the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) move to set up a factory in the United States was not government-led but due to client demand.
During a forum with the youth, Hsiao was asked about TSMC-related topics. She pointed out that she wasn't a spokesperson for TSMC and refrained from commenting on the company's internal affairs.
However, she confirmed that TSMC clearly understands its customers' requirements for a factory in the U.S.
Hsiao, a political figure with a strong American background, stated at the event that many of her American friends are very interested in TSMC's investments in the United States.
"The whole world is getting a chance to reintroduce itself to Taiwan," said the DPP vice presidential candidate.
"There are so many visitors recently, and they often specify they wanted to visit Hsinchu, with even more specifically requesting to visit TSMC, leading to pleas from TSMC staff hoping for fewer visitors," Hsiao said light-heartedly.
At the event, Hsiao took every question to heart, hoping to garner more recognition from the young generation.
