Cold front keeps Taiwan chilly, brings dry conditions (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A persistent cold front continued to affect temperatures early Monday (Dec. 25), according to forecasts from WeatherRisk.
The lowest temperature was recorded in the Zhongliao Township of Nantou County at 7.5 degrees Celsius, with Yunlin County's Gukeng Township registering 8.1 degrees.
These chilly conditions stem from strong continental polar air masses expected to impact Taiwan's temperatures on Monday and Tuesday morning.
However, Monday's high-temperature range is expected to rise significantly compared to previous days. The north and northeast regions could reach highs of 14-16 degrees, while central, southern, and southeastern regions could experience 19-23 degrees.
Characteristic of this polar air mass, weather conditions remain relatively dry with no significant rainfall reported across Taiwan. Northern and northeastern regions are expected to see more cloud coverage, with other regions mostly sunny to partly cloudy.
As continental cold air pressure migrates eastward, the cool air is set to weaken quickly, and daytime temperatures are expected to rebound above 20 degrees throughout most of the country. The exception is the Yilan region, where heavier cloud coverage is expected, along with the possibility of scattered showers.
