TAINAN (TVBS News) — The Workforce Development Agency (WDA) under Taiwan's Ministry of Labor (MOL) highlighted on Wednesday (Dec. 20), that Queena Plaza Hotel in Tainan has successfully leveraged its middle-aged and senior manpower by utilizing the Ministry's "Middle-aged and Elderly Employment Training Subsidy Program," thus helping its staff to improve their professional skills through quality training.

Queena Plaza Hotel, the first resort-style hotel in Tainan, experienced a significant loss of talent due to the COVID-19 pandemic in recent years.

Employees aged 45 and above comprise about 31% of the overall workforce, with more than half of that number working in the food and beverage department.

Engaging in external training courses, the hotel's staff completed 64 hours of HACCP 60A and HACCP 60B courses aimed at bolstering their capabilities in food safety control systems and kitchen hygiene regulations.

As a result of this training initiative, over 50% of the hotel's middle-aged and elderly grassroots leaders have obtained HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) certification, contributing to their stable and ongoing career development within their job positions.

The WDA believes that by applying for related subsidy programs, companies can merge the competencies of their middle-aged and senior employees, fostering knowledge and skill transfer, enhancing work efficiency, strengthening retention value, and achieving the operational goals of the organization.

Employers in need of such support are encouraged to contact the various divisions of the WDA for more information.
