Jaw Shaw-kong slams Lai Ching-te over Wanli housing issues (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) vice presidential candidate Jaw Shaw-kong on Wednesday (Dec. 20) raised concerns about Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te's family house in Wanli District, which has faced criticism for alleged unauthorized expansion.
Accompanied by Keelung legislative candidate Lin Pei-hsiang during a campaign event in the morning, Jaw questioned the presence of military police at Lai's Wanli property and their involvement in lawn care, despite Lai not residing there.
Jaw also criticized Lai's track record on housing issues in mining areas during his previous roles, suggesting a newfound interest only when his family's property came under scrutiny.
Furthermore, Jaw highlighted the DPP's governance and its attention to non-urban planned lands, which he claimed only received notice when the party's interests were at stake.
The controversy surrounding the Wanli property underscores the increased scrutiny of candidates' personal and family matters during the political campaign.
