TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te urged voters on Tuesday (Dec. 19) to choose the right path for Taiwan's future, emphasizing the nation cannot afford to backtrack.
Speaking at a rally to support the re-election of DPP Legislator Wu Szu-yao, Lai highlighted the importance of culture in advancing Taiwan's international identity, stating that without cultural recognition, the world would remain unaware of Taiwan's existence.
Over 150 cultural figures attended the event to support Wu. Lai praised her as a passionate, professional legislator capable of problem-solving. Wu's broad support, spanning various fields, reflects her exceptional qualities, according to Lai.
Wu emphasized culture as Taiwan's potent form of national defense and foreign relations. She cited Ukraine's use of cultural heritage for international protection amid conflict with Russia, emphasizing culture's borderless nature. Wu expressed confidence in Lai's leadership for enhancing Taiwan's global cultural ties.
