Chilly weekend ahead for Taiwan, expert warns (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A significant drop in temperatures across Taiwan was evident on Saturday (Dec. 16), prompting weather specialists to forecast chilling evenings ahead, with lows of 12 to 13 degrees Celsius late night through Sunday early morning, while other areas will see temperatures descend to a cool 14 to 17 degrees.

Daniel Wu, a weather expert, noted that the regions north of central Taiwan and the northeast and eastern parts of the island will experience cold conditions throughout Saturday. The temperature drop will also be felt in other areas during the night and early morning hours.

Wu advised the public to take note of the substantial temperature changes and take appropriate measures to stay warm.

The northern parts of the island and the eastern half, which face the prevailing winds, are likely to see local, brief periods of rain, he stated.

The scope and intensity of the rain are expected to be more significant north of Taoyuan and in the northeastern regions. Scattered showers are also predicted for the central and southern parts of Taiwan.

Temperatures are set to rebound across Taiwan next Monday as the cold air weakens. However, a new wave of cold weather is anticipated to arrive by next Wednesday.
