TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The "2023 Workplace Learning Trends White Paper," released on Tuesday (Dec. 12) by 104 Human Resources Bank, reveals an 8.1% increase in job vacancies requiring certifications compared to the previous year.
Job seekers with certifications receive 35% more interview invitations than those without. The top five language skills in demand for 2023 recruitment are English, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Thai.
The Korean language has seen a 23.1% increase in demand due to K-POP's popularity and Korean translation needs. Thai language demand also saw an 11.9% increase as businesses expand into Southeast Asia.
Roles requiring language proficiency include media and editorial positions, research and development, and high-level jobs.
Different age groups show varied learning preferences, with those under 39 focusing on career advancement through professional and language skills, while those over 40 seek diversified learning reflecting a second career curve.
Despite free online resources, paid learning options remain popular. For work or personal interest learning, 30.8% have a budget within NT$5,000, while self-study without costs accounts for 26.9%.
Regarding certification learning, 37.5% of workers have a budget exceeding NT$20,000, in contrast to the 8.7% with no expenditure for self-study.
