Interior Ministry boosts funds for religious property law (TVBS News)
NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Interior Minister Lin Yu-chang announced on Friday (Dec. 8) an allocation of NT$10 million by the Ministry for the implementation of the Provisional Act Governing Religious Groups Registering Real Estate in the Name of a Natural Person in the upcoming year.
The announcement was made during Lin's visit to the Bali Zihuang Tianyi Zhenqing temple, highlighting the MOI's efforts to communicate the details of the Provisional Act to temples across Taiwan. This legislation aims to address the issue of properties acquired by religious groups but registered under individual names.
Lin also revealed plans to significantly increase government subsidies for temple activities, with an additional NT$15 million, a substantial rise from the previous annual subsidy of NT$420,000.
The Ministry's Department of Religious and Ceremonial Affairs, established in September 2022, will lead these initiatives.
Lin confirmed the new budget will be distributed through local governments to ensure efficient implementation, supporting the cultural and spiritual heritage of Taiwan's religious communities.
