Aaron Yan exonerated of assault, secret photography charges (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese entertainer Aaron Yan has been cleared of charges related to sexual offenses, including secret photography and assault, as announced by the Shilin District Prosecutors Office on Friday (Dec. 8).
Yan's agent expressed relief, saying, "Thank you to the prosecutor for proving his innocence."
The case emerged in June when internet celebrity Chiu Yao-le accused Yan of sexual harassment and secret photography, causing a halt in Yan's entertainment and business ventures.
Investigators found Yan had shared private videos of Chiu with friends, violating the "Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act."
After an extensive investigation, prosecutors decided to indict Yan on charges of filming and possessing videos depicting the sexual conduct of a minor. Charges related to non-consensual filming and assault were dropped.
The Shilin District Court is set to conduct a closed-door hearing on Dec. 21 regarding the possession and filming of videos involving a minor.
