TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a collaboration between art and advocacy, the National Human Rights Museum unveiled a new animated short titled "PIGGY 1/2: A World Apart" on Wednesday (Dec. 6), created by Fish Wang, the acclaimed animator who previously clinched the Best Animation Short Film award at the Golden Horse Awards.

The film delves into the theme of transitional justice through a narrative set in a future world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals.

The production, which took nearly three years to complete by Chimney Animation, follows the adventurous journey of a young exile, "Ban Po," as he questions state mechanisms and strives to protect his loved ones.

Wang's ambition with "PIGGY 1/2" is to challenge viewers' understanding of transitional justice and spark multifaceted discussions on the value of human rights.

Wang's reputation precedes him, with a portfolio that includes the celebrated short "Gold Fish" and the award-winning "Ghost of the Dark Path," which garnered top honors at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain.

Museum director Hong Shi-fang expressed gratitude towards Wang and his team for their creative efforts and highlighted the museum's commitment to promoting human rights through diverse artistic expressions in recent years.

The release of "PIGGY 1/2" is anticipated not just as entertainment but as a medium to enhance Taiwan's societal grasp of human rights values, paying homage to the efforts of predecessors who suffered for these causes.
