KMT‘s Hou, Jaw unite with nominees for campaign photos (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a bid to rally support and boost votes, the Kuomintang's (KMT) presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih and his running mate Jaw Shaw-kong joined unranked legislative nominees in a photo shoot and promotional video session Wednesday (Dec. 6) evening.
In white shirts and jeans, the KMT nominees spent around an hour perfecting the shots.
Meanwhile, Jaw Shaw-kong made a public appeal to Foxconn founder Terry Gou to rejoin the party and contribute to the election campaign, emphasizing the united effort needed for the greater good of the Republic of China, Taiwan.
Amid efforts to solidify party unity, KMT Chairman Eric Chu shouldered responsibility for any dissatisfaction within party ranks, suggesting that any blame could be laid on him, thereby underlining the importance of party coherence.
Gou, who has been a speculated participant in the political fray, distanced himself from rejoining the KMT and re-entering the electoral battle, stated he is not in a position to comment and indicated that the issue is not relevant to him.
The KMT has been actively seeking unity through various channels. Following an unsuccessful alliance with Ko Wen-je, the party is once again attempting to woo Gou, aiming for a united front in the upcoming elections.
This move indicates the KMT's strategy to bolster its chances by aligning with influential figures ahead of the critical political contest.
