Taipei faces chilly evenings (Central Weather Administration)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — With the onset of significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Wu Der-rong, an adjunct associate professor of atmospheric sciences at National Central University, has advised the public to dress warmly on Wednesday (Dec. 6) evening.
Wu's forecast underscores the importance of layering clothing during this period.
However, the weather is set to change over the upcoming weekend.
According to the latest model simulations, from Saturday (Dec. 9) through Monday (Dec. 11), a high-pressure return flow will bring mostly sunny to cloudy skies.
Sporadic rainfall could occur in the eastern half of the island, with temperatures gradually rising and maintaining the larger diurnal range.
Heading into next week, a shift is expected by Tuesday (Dec. 12). The influence of the northeast monsoon will bring local showers to areas north of Taoyuan and parts of the eastern region, while temperatures in northern Taiwan will cool down. Nevertheless, the cold air mass appears to be weak, indicating a limited decrease in temperatures.
On Wednesday (Dec. 13), the northeast monsoon is forecasted to weaken. This will lead to clear skies in western regions and occasional brief showers in the east, with temperatures on the rebound. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather reports and prepare for the changing conditions.
