Hsiao Bi-khim cautions against taking election lightly (TVBS News)
TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party's vice-presidential candidate, Hsiao Bi-khim, emphasized the intensity of electoral competition across Taiwan during her campaign stop in Taichung on Monday (Dec. 4), cautioning against complacency.
Hsiao embarked on her first-ever campaign sweep in a specialized vehicle provided by the National Security Bureau Monday, joining forces with Legislator Lin Ching-yi of Taichung's 2nd electoral district.
She visited Lin's campaign headquarters in Wuri District, Taichung, at 10:40 a.m. and held a press conference with the legislator.
At 11:00 a.m., Hsiao boarded the high-security campaign vehicle, complete with bulletproof glass and guarded by national security personnel.
The presidential-level support included a motorcade of ten vehicles and police motorcycles dedicated to her protection.
Reflecting on the campaign trail's challenges, Hsiao acknowledged the contrast to her past electoral experiences in Hualien. This second visit to Taichung was significant for Hsiao, who expressed her honor in supporting Lin, a colleague she recognized for her strong sense of justice and camaraderie, especially recalling Lin's vigor during the previous by-election in the second district.
Hsiao and Lin have long been united in their legislative efforts, championing foreign affairs and gender equality issues.
Today's itinerary will take Hsiao through four electoral districts in Taichung. She underscored the importance of each district and chose Taichung for this leg of her campaign tour, factoring in the transportation time needed to cover the area effectively.
