YILAN (TVBS News) — Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) vice-presidential candidate Cynthia Wu and legislative candidate Chen Wan-hui visited the Nanfangao Nantian Temple in Yilan early on Saturday (Dec. 2) morning. Following their temple visit, a closed-door discussion was held.

Wu has been surrounded by controversy since announcing her candidacy for vice president, facing criticism from online users who accuse her of having a “princess syndrome.” When approached by journalists, Wu chose to remain silent in response to their inquiries.

After spending less than 30 minutes at the Nantian Temple, Wu promptly left the scene. As she departed, Wu communicated through her car window with gestures, indicating that she was in good spirits.

Chen praised Wu for her friendly demeanor and her smile. She also highlighted Wu’s support for digital healthcare and digital transformation initiatives.

Chen emphasized that Wu is very approachable, and she doesn't think Wu has made any inappropriate remarks. However, compared to Ko Wen-je, who served as the mayor before, Wu is not as accustomed to facing the public.

Chen explained that the brief visit was due to subsequent scheduling commitments and promised to invite Wu back to Yilan to enjoy local delicacies next time.
