TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Foxconn founder Terry Gou took to Facebook on Saturday (Dec. 2) morning to share an emotional tribute to his late brother Tony Gou and his first wife Serena Lin.

Terry Gou noted that Dec. 2 would have been his late brother's birthday. Tony Gou passed away from leukemia at the age of 46 in July 2007.

The loss of his brother was one of two heavy blows for Gou, the second being the death of his first wife Lin, who succumbed to breast cancer at the age of 54 in Taipei, two years before his brother’s passing.

Describing these personal tragedies as "the two biggest blows I've faced in life," Terry Gou recounted how he spared no expense in seeking medical experts worldwide in a desperate attempt to treat his brother’s cancer, but his endeavors ended in heartbreaking defeat.

Despite consulting numerous experts from China and Taiwan, his brother ultimately lost his battle with the illness.

Gou, who recently achieved the necessary endorsements to join the presidential race, surprised many when he withdrew his candidacy on the final day of registration.

In Saturday's Facebook post, Gou didn't mention the election at all, focusing solely on his grieving and his determination to contribute to Taiwan’s medical field.

In his latest statement, Gou declared that he is channeling his resources into realizing the dream of building a cancer hospital in Taiwan, a project he has now officially set in motion, aiming to offer hope for those fighting the disease that claimed his loved ones.
