DPP’s Hsiao Bi-khim lands in Taiwan with her four cats (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice presidential candidate Hsiao Bi-khim arrived back in Taiwan early Thursday (Nov. 30) from New York, bringing her four cats. Landing at Taoyuan International Airport, Hsiao, flanked by security officers, completed her immigration formalities amidst a crowd of reporters and travelers.
At the airport, Hsiao visited the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency for her cats' entry quarantine. While the cats meowed in their carriers, Hsiao comforted them, feeding them treats and even cradling one to calm it. She also purchased canned food and dry kibble for them at the agency before departing the airport with security.
Hsiao, the former representative to the United States, had returned to Taiwan on Nov. 20 to report for duty and tender her resignation. The next day, she registered for the elections with presidential candidate Lai Ching-te and then traveled to Hualien to campaign. She revisited the United States on Nov. 26 to finalize her resignation and pack, returning to Taiwan with her cats.
