TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate, Ko Wen-je, expressed gratitude on Tuesday (Nov. 28) through social media for the rapid fundraising success achieved by the party's legislator-at-large candidate, Huang Kuo-chang, who raised NT$14 million overnight.

Huang expressed surprise at the unforeseen fundraising success, saying, "Last night's result was beyond my expectation as we reached the amount in a very short time."

He also highlighted the financial challenges facing the TPP, stating, "TPP is a party that lacks money and resources. It's my duty to rally for the party votes nationwide."

A former New Power Party (NPP) legislator who joined TPP on Nov. 16, Huang encouraged supporters to donate NT$500 each during a live webcast on Monday evening. The goal was to attract 10,000 participants to meet the NT$5 million campaign fund target.

The call to action resulted in an overwhelming response, causing the party's donation system to crash temporarily due to heavy traffic.

In related news, TPP's vice-presidential candidate Cynthia Wu clarified her role in the fundraising efforts. She stated that she was not responsible for fundraising and avoided questions about donations from her family's business, the Shin Kong Group.

Wu responded, "I believe the fundraising information is all transparent; you can check it yourself."

She also mentioned that her previous NT$240,000 donation to TPP, made before assuming her role as a legislator for the party, was allocated for talent training.
