TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The potential alliance between the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) came to an end on Friday (Nov. 24), as TPP presidential candidate Ko Wen-je, accompanied by newly selected vice presidential candidate Cynthia Wu, registered for the 2024 election at the Central Election Commission (CEC).
Cynthia Wu, a TPP legislator and daughter of Eugene Wu, founder of Shin Kong Financial Holding Co., boasts considerable financial expertise.
She is committed to leveraging her international perspective and financial experience to benefit the TPP. "I will bring my international perspective and experience in the financial world to the TPP. With just 50 days left, I will spend every day doing 5 times the work," she stated to the media.
Ko highlighted the importance of choosing a running mate who complements his strengths, expressing confidence in Wu's unique background to add significant value to the team.
With their last-minute alliance talks with the KMT unsuccessful, the TPP is now focusing on maximizing their campaign efforts in the limited time before the election.
