TPP announces candidates for Taiwan’s 2024 legislative race (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan People's Party (TPP) unveiled its list of 34 candidates for the legislator-at-large positions for the 2024 elections on Wednesday (Nov. 22).
Topping the list are former Taipei Deputy Mayor Vivian Huang and former lawmaker Huang Kuo-chang, whereas the candidates notably recommended by the independent presidential hopeful Terry Gou were absent.
In response, TPP's presidential candidate Ko Wen-je clarified that while there was an invitation extended to Gou to provide recommended names, Gou declined the offer.
Addressing the party, Ko remarked on the growth of TPP, which he founded four years ago, noting the party secured over 1.3 million votes in the last election, making it the third-largest party in the legislature.
Ko also assured that the recruitment process was exceptionally stringent, reflecting the party's commitment to bringing in competent individuals dedicated to serving Taiwan's interests in the legislative yuan.
